Nong Bon Lake Park: Pigeons, Giant Catfish and a Quiet Hour in Bangkok

No talking, just pigeons, giant catfish and a big lake in east Bangkok. Nong Bon Lake Park, and how to pair it with the train night market.

Not every video needs a plan. These two are some of the quietest things I’ve ever posted, and people keep watching them anyway.

Nong Bon Lake Park is in Prawet, in the east of Bangkok. It’s a big public park built around a lake, and people come here to cycle, run, feed the fish and feed the pigeons. I did the last two.

That’s the pigeon video. There’s no talking in it. Just a park, a lot of birds and some bread.

The catfish

The catfish in the lake are big, and they know exactly what bread is. Throw some in and the water goes from calm to chaos in seconds. It’s a short video and it’s worth it for that moment alone: giant catfish feeding at the park.

Make an evening of it

The Srinakarin Train Night Market is in the same part of the city, also in Nong Bon. Spend the late afternoon at the lake, then head to the market once it’s open. Quiet first, noise second.

  • Things to do: cycling, running, feeding the fish and the pigeons
  • Bring: bread, and a bit of patience
  • Pair with: the Srinakarin Train Night Market after dark
